The Theatre Royal Windsor is to play host to some of the best tribute acts in the country thisweek. We caught up with Scott Maley of Supreme Queen, Tom Vaughan of the Take That Experience and Ben Bowman, who have each dedicated their lives to performing as the most iconic musicians throughout history.

Scott Maley Supreme Queen

Windsor will be well and truly rocking when Queen tribute, Supreme Queen, take to the stage on March 26.

Scott Maley has been perfecting his Freddie Mercury persona for 20 years, as Supreme Queen have paid homage to the iconic band across the UK, Europe and Asia.

So what can audiences at the Theatre Royal Windsor expect to see?

Scott said: “It’s a really wonderful show. It’s a live representation of Queen and it’s a little bit of what seeing a live Queen gig would have been like. We play all the greatest hits that the audience enjoy.

“everyone has a sing and a dance and they leave with a smile on their face. It’s a great evening out.”

Scott admits he has been a fan of classic rock music since he was a teenager and was always aware of how popular Queen was.

“Queen live gigs were fantastic, their studio albums were amazing and Freddie had such a great voice. I saw them perform Bohemian Rhapsody on TV when I was about five or six and I remember thinking ‘wow’.”

Scott believes Supreme Queen have been so successful because they’re so dedicated to the act.

“I’m lucky to perform with some fantastic musicians who are as dedicated to the band as I am. We’re always looking for ways to improve the show.”

Tom Vaughan Take That Experience

Take That tribute, the Take That Experience, are preparing to relight the fire at the Theatre Royal Windsor on March 28.

Audiences will be heading to the show in their droves as the five talented members that make up the band, Paul Middleton as Gary Barlow, Tom Vaughan as Robbie Williams, Nik Parsons as Mark Owen, Danny Thomas as Jason Orange and Steve Kopandy as Howard Donald sing all the hits.

The show brings you the very latest Take That favourites as well as all the classic songs from the past including Back For Good, Relight My Fire, Could It Be Magic, Patience, Shine, Rule The World, Up All Night, Greatest Day and The Flood.

Tom, who plays Robbie, said: “It really is the full Take That experience, from the 90s right up to their performance at the BRITs recently.”

As well as the band’s hits, Tom dons his black and white make up and skin tight clothing to perform the classic Robbie hits like Let Me Entertain You.

He said: “I have been a fan of Robbie for so many years. I've seen him live and I've got his albums. I couldn’t have imagined how much I would enjoy performing as him on stage. The rest of the band are a great bunch of lads and we have a great time on stage.”

Tom admits that performing as Robbie is a ‘lifestyle choice’.

He said: “I like to have a beard but I can’t grow one because Robbie doesn’t have one and I can’t grow my hair either. But I think it’s worth it because we look a lot like the real band, which is a bonus.”

Ben Bowman Jackson Live

Ben has been performing as the legendary Michael Jackson for over ten years, travelling across the country with his tribute show, Jackson Live.

With fabulous costumes, the signature dance moves everyone loves, a five-piece band and four dancers as well as Ben strutting his stuff as Michael himself, he is sure that the audience will have a great time.

“It’s just an amazing evening celebrating one of the greatest music icons of all time. It’s the closest you could ever get to actually going to a real Michael Jackson concert.

“The show is just the best of Michael Jackson’s world tours and it incorporates some of the ideas that he never got round to doing.”

With lots of tribute bands dedicating their act to the King of Pop, what makes Ben’s performance different?

“I don’t think I’m better than any other tribute act, I go out and watch them so I can learn from them. But there are a lot of tribute acts that mime when they're on stage and that’s one thing we don’t do. I think that sets us apart from other acts.”

Ben recalls being a huge fan of the iconic performer ever since he can remember.

“I'm a massive Michael Jackson fan and everyone involved in this project is. It’s been ten years but I never get bored of singing his songs or being on stage.

“I grew up listening to all of my mum’s old records. I listened to a lot of old music and I became obsessed with Bad, Thriller and Off the Wall. I just loved his music and it made me want to dance.

“There is no one out there like him, even now, no one even comes close.”

Ben has dedicated his life to Michael Jackson, so much so, that when he died in 2009, he said it was like ‘losing a family member’.

“Everything I have ever achieved is all down to him. He is the one person I have got to thank so it was tragic when he died. I can still get upset talking about it now.”

“if I could experience even ten per cent of what he felt when he was on stage, it would be amazing. I think the closest I have come to feeling like that is when I performed at a festival in front of 16,000 people. The audience loved it and it was just incredible.”

Jackson Live comes to the Theatre Royal Windsor on March 28.

Tickets for all the performances range from £13 to £35, available online at www.theatreroyalwindsor.co.uk or by calling the box office on 01753 853 888.
