It’s been a whirlwind of a year for Jack Pack.

The four-piece found fame on Britain’s Got Talent last year, finishing fourth overall and went on to sign a record deal with Simon Cowell’s label, Syco.

Now, Sean Ryder Wolf, Alfie Palmer, Andrew Bourn and Martin McCafferty are set to release their first, self-titled album later this month.

Andrew said: “It has been an incredibly busy year. We are really lucky to have done such amazing things since the show. Just before Christmas we sung for Prince Charles, which was incredible.

“It’s coming up to two years since we met. We all started in 2013, without really much of a thought about where we were heading. We all just had a love for this type of music. Now we have a new member, Martin and we’re really happy with where we are.”

Martin added: “We’re blessed to have a nice relationship with each other.  We’ve all got different personalities but we get on well.”

Appearing on Britain’s Got Talent was a big risk for the boys, who all had jobs and families to support.

Dad-of-two, Andrew, who comes from Wooburn Green, took a leap of faith and quit his job to pursue music.

He said: “We had all risked a lot to be on Britain’s Got Talent. I’ve got a wife and kids and mortgage to pay, so to give up my job to pursue singing was a massive risk. I think it has paid off though.

“We are really lucky to have been a part of the show. We have all watched Britain’s Got Talent over the years so it was a bit surreal being on it.”

Alfie added: “The pressure when you are out on the stage was intense. We had all given so much to the show that getting through each stage was such a relief.”

The band were recently invited back to perform on the show that propelled them to fame to perform their new track during the live semi-final on 26 May.

Andrew said: “We’re very excited about what we have been working on and it’s nice to be able to share it on the show. It’s a great show and we’re really lucky to have been welcomed back.”

And Andrew, who was fixing ovens for a living just eight years ago, is adamant that their newfound fame hasn’t gone to their heads.

He said: “We’re slightly more mature than other bands; we have families and children. It helps us to remain grounded. We know we are really lucky to have this opportunity.”

Britain’s Got Talent saw them perform songs like Feeling Good and Sinatra’s That’s Life, and while there will still be the old favourites everyone loves on their debut album, the group have developed their sound since the talent show.

Andrew said: “The album is a mix of familiar songs and some contemporary ones as well. We started as a rat pack but now we have developed into the Great British 60s influence and that sort of sound.”

Martin added: “It’s definitely not something people will expect to hear from us. It will be a shock but hopefully a good one.”

The boys admit it took a long time to get the album right.

Andrew said: “We’re very proud of the album. It did take a long time to get it right and it was a lot of work. There lots of late nights but it was good fun because we got to listen to loads of great tracks along the way.”

Martin added: “It was a very stressful, amazing time but it’s turned out to be a pretty epic record. There’s a lot of John Barry influence on there, it’s really big.”

And what was it like to work with the man himself, Simon Cowell?

“We’re chuffed to bits. Syco is such a great record label and we’re fortunate that Simon has been very involved the process.  The album as a whole is really fantastic,” said Sean.

Andrew added: “What you see is what you get with Simon. He’s a gentleman. Obviously he’s a busy man, but he was involved as much as he could be, which was nice.”

So what’s next for the band?

Sean said: “We have got some tour dates pencilled in for next year. The album coming out is such a big deal for us and we’re hoping to take it on tour.”

“We’ll see where the momentum takes us,” Martin added.

And Andrew will be coming back to South Bucks to perform at PennFest next month.

He said: “We have been underground for what feels like forever doing this album so it will be really nice to get out there and meet the audience.

“Especially as I’m from nearby, it will be nice to perform in the area. We’re really looking forward to it.”
