A TEAM of talented youngsters made sure they took part in a summer holiday activity they would never forget - by turning their dance routines into a film.

And now the 14 dedicated performers will see their work displayed tonight when their own dance movie is shown at 7pm at the Roundhouse in High Wycombe. It will also be aired on a variety of websites, including www.soundstudio.org.uk.

The group, who live in High Wycombe and the surrounding area, worked tirelessly over a period of six days at the Soundstudio based at the Roundhouse, a county council-run creative youth arts centre in St Mary Street.

The youngsters - driven on by the Xpressionz Dance company and Soundstudio - choreographed routines, chose locations, recorded and appeared in the movie themselves.

They were helped out by Hannah Wells, a third year film and TV production student from Bucks New University, who filmed and edited the short film through being a creative volunteer at the centre.

Errol Fenton, a Soundstudio youth music worker, said: "The response from parents has been amazing, with them saying how the young people have been going home so happy and creating their own pieces; bubbling with excitement to have been part of the project. Many have become more confident and are enjoying being so active."

The film is even more remarkable due to the fact that some of the youngsters had never previously danced with others, or performed solos or group pieces before.

Meanwhile, Xpressionz will be running a new Urban Dance Group at The Roundhouse CYAC in St Mary Street, High Wycombe every Tuesday.

It is aimed at 12 to 21-year-olds and will run 4.45 to 6:15pm at a cost of £2 per session. It is open to those who have never danced before to those wanting to branch into new genres such as dancehall, hip hop and other urban styles.
