1. TO celebrate National Armed Forces Day, join former RAF pilot Graham Laurie at the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in Great Missenden for some free family talks to learn about Roald Dahl’s time in the RAF during the Second World War. The talks take place tomorrow (Saturday) at 1 and 3pm. Then on Sunday at 12 and 2pm become an Oompa Loompa and design a new plane from biscuits and sweeties to celebrate National Armed Forces Day. Then learn about Roald Dahl’s wordplay to give your plane a flushbunkling name. £3 per participant plus museum entry.

2. TO kick start your summer, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will be returning to High Wycombe for a Proms extravaganza full of pomp and circumstance. 3. THE popular Donkey Derby takes place this Saturday in Beaconsfield. As well as the main event of the donkey races there will be something for the whole family with lots of rides, entertainment and refreshments on offer. There will also be barbecue, bar, arts and craft stall, an assault course, a bouncy castle, a caricaturist, a rope swing ride and an octopus ride. The 2014 Donkey Derby will be held in Maxwell Road, Beaconsfield, on tomorrow from 12 until 3.30pm. Entry tickets are available on the day. There is a £1.50 admission cost for adults, while children can go free.

4. AN extraordinary structure will land on the North Front at Waddesdon Manor this weekend. Colourscape is an inflatable labyrinth for visitors to wander freely through with interconnected chambers, with dazzling effects of colour illuminated by sunlight with various musicians within the space, it looks set to be an unusual experience. It is open today to Sunday from 11am to 4pm. Admission is £1 per visitor and normal admission charge applied to Waddesdon House and Gardens. Alongside Colourscape, artist Andrew Fowles will explore how we play and use performance to create photographic images with light. This is also £1 extra per visitor. 5. THERE will be a fusion of artists on site at the Chiltern Open Air Museum in Chalfont St Giles this weekend. Chiltern Arts Fest Live will take place on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm, in conjunction with Bucks Open Studios, which finished county-wide last weekend. Wander around the historic buildings on the village green and see in action a range of different styles and techniques. Tickets are £9.50 for adults and £6 for children.
