Critically-acclaimed musical, Return to the Forbidden Planet, will be exploding onto stage at the Wycombe Swan next month.

Celebrating with a 25th anniversary tour, the Olivier Award-winning Return to the Forbidden Planet will be landing at the Swan on February 16, 14 years after its last UK tour.

Renowned guitarist and founding member of Queen, Brian May, will also make an appearance in the production.

The world-famous musician will appear via video projection as the Newscaster.

Return to the Forbidden Planet follows Captain Tempest (Sean Needham) and his crew as they get caught in a meteor shower, meet a mad scientist on a mysterious planet and battle a monster, with a generous helping of classic rock songs along the way.

The spectacular show was inspired by Shakespeare’s The Tempest. Packed full of feisty rock ‘n’ roll tunes including Heard It Through the Grapevine, Johnny B. Goode, Great Balls of Fire and Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood, you’ll be dancing in the aisles all evening.

The magnificent musical is destined to keep everyone entertained with stunning special effects and a talented cast of actor-musicians - not to mention a massive green-tentacled monster and a roller-skating robot.

Return to the Forbidden Planet first wowed audiences back in 1989 when it opened at the Cambridge Theatre in London’s West End, running for over 1500 performances.

Creator and Director, Bob Carlton, said: “It was an incredible time when Return to the Forbidden Planet landed in West End, in what was a vintage year alongside shows such as Miss Saigon and Buddy. And it’s thanks to the audiences, who took it to their hearts and rocked out every night, that it became such a cult success.

“I can’t wait to bring it back 25 years later, to introduce it to a whole new generation and to reunite with original fans of the show. I’m thrilled to be able to return to the Forbidden Planet, along with the original design team, and get reacquainted with Captain Tempest and his crew once more!”

Tickets are priced between £14.50 and £27, available from www.wycombeswan.co.uk or by calling the Box Office on 01494 512 000.
