A brand new TV pilot is set to star a rapper from Beaconsfield.

Cream, real name Kai Taylor, is due to star in a new sitcom TV pilot called The Pub.

The UK-born, American-raised rapper previously starred in BBC3 reality show Boom Town.

The pilot for The Pub shows an exaggerated version of a real life pub and their regulars.

The hilarious characters include a blind man, a care worker and a group of military men to name a few. Cream, who has lived in Bucks for 18 years, is set to play Arthur G, a gangster with two girlfriends called Cortina and Fiesta.

“My character is kind of like who I really am, you know, a gangster, can get you anything you want type – it’s quite close to reality.

“Arthur is a wide boy, a wheeler dealer who dresses very flash and drives flash cars, he’s a womaniser but he’s got a heart of gold. He loves his mum and makes sure to look after her. There’s a horrid side and a soft side to him.

“It was a lot of fun playing Arthur as the public will not know what to expect from him next, he's a very colourful character!”

Cream, who is currently in the studio finishing his third album, also provided backing music for The Pub.

He said: “Because I do music, the producers asked me to make a hip-hop version of the Godfather music, so when Arthur walks into the scene, my version of The Godfather theme plays in the background. That really suits my character.”

The rapper is working alongside the likes of former Coronation Street star Bruce Jones, Britain’s Got Talent dancer Stavros Flatley and former Eastenders star Nicola Stapleton.

Cream said: “If you look at the cast, most of them have been on TV before in one way or another.

“It was great to work with proper actors and actresses. It was interesting to see how everybody interacted with each other and we gelled really well. It’s going to be a very funny pilot.

“I'm not sure if Stavros Flatley has even done any other acting before but he’s actually not that bad!”

Cream admits that the show was great fun to film.

“I loved it; I loved every minute of it. It was something different because Boom Town was a reality show and this is acting a character.

“It was a fun show to make, being on set every day with all these different characters – it was more fun than work.”

The idea for the show came after the directors were sitting in a pub one day, watching what was going on around them.

Cream said: “I thought the show was a great concept. [The directors] said to me they were looking at all the situations going on around them with different people. Then they looked at each other and said this would make a great TV show. And it actually would because the show is based on things that happen in real life.

“Obviously it’s a little bit exaggerated though. Viewers want to see something that is a little bit out of the ordinary.

“There’s a wedding involved, there’s lots of sexual innuendos. You have all the stereotypes – the sexed-up barmaid, the boys who think they are gangsters, the psychic, the landlord. There’s a character to make everyone laugh.”

Cream hopes to continue his success on TV and in film with a part in Schadenfreude, a new film by Simon Pickup.

The rapper will be working alongside the likes of Welsh author and former drug smuggler, Howard Marks (‘Mr Nice’), in the new film.

“We start filming for Schadenfreude around June 2015. I'm working alongside Howard Marks and believe it or not, we are both playing policemen!

“I’ve got some really exciting things coming up. Watch this space.”
