After a successful tour of Licence to Thrill last year, Brendan Cole is set to dazzle audiences in South Bucks with his new tour, A Night to Remember, this weekend.

According to the dancer, the audience are in for a spectacular evening of musical and dance entertainment, from ballroom to Latin-inspired dance.

He said: “It’s a very full-on show, not what you would expect to see. I call it an ‘evening with style’ experience. It’s a dance show, but it’s much more than that. We have music, a phenomenal 14-piece band. It’s a great show with great music from a talented bunch of musicians and dancers who are just world class.”

The show features professional dancers including Fauve Hautot, a dancer and choreographer who has appeared in all five series of the French show Dancing with the Stars as well as on Brendan’s previous tour, Licence to Thrill.

Brendan said: “My leading lady Fauve is an absolute star. She’s got a magic about her that people can’t stop looking at when she gets on stage.

“My dance cast really are world class and it’s a pleasure to work with them all. I’m really chuffed to have them all on board.”

With an emphasis on entertaining the audience, the Strictly Come Dancing star is hoping that his show will enable the audience to get to know him more, adding a personal touch to the show.

He said: “There is a little bit of chat during the show as well. There’s not much opportunity for chatting on Strictly, you get about 40 seconds to talk so I really want the audience to be able to get to know me a bit better during this show. It’s a really interesting evening for the audience; it’s all about entertaining them.”

Brendan is confident that the audience will be entertained with a variety of different dances.

“We do about 20 dance numbers; it’s a very diverse show, from the tango to the waltz. My favourite dance to perform is probably the waltz. Something magical happens when you dance one. If you get all the elements right, you’re doing a really romantic, emotional dance. When the audience are watching, they go into a kind of trance. When you finish, there’s a moment of complete silence where people are still taken away by the dance, it’s a really wonderful feeling when you see the emotion in their faces, I love that.”

The 38-year-old, who lives in Aylesbury, admits that he loves to perform in South Bucks, but despite being an internationally-renowned dancer and TV star, he still gets anxious when performing close to home.

He said: “I'm so glad to be coming back to the Wycombe Swan. It was four years ago that we last performed there and it was all very last-minute when we played there last time. This time, it’s almost sold out already which is really exciting.

“The Waterside is a great venue to play too. It has a fantastic auditorium which produces great sound. I really love playing locally; you really get a sense that this is ‘your’ gig. I get more nervous though because I feel like I know everyone in the audience.”

Brendan, who married model Zoe Hobbs in 2010, reveals that his wife plays an important role when it comes to producing his live shows.

He said: “She’s very much a part of my shows. I bounce ideas off of her all the time and I really value her views on what I do. The show is mine, I produce it and my ideas go into it and she helps me out sometimes. We always make sure it’s going to be a really good show. She’s the voice of reason when I’m coming up with ideas and that’s really important to me.”

The star, who has been dancing since he was six, now has a two year old daughter Aurelia; but he is adamant that he won’t be pushing her to follow in his footsteps.

“I love that she dances around the living room already. I want her to experience a lot of different things in life and make up her own mind about what she wants to do. I'm sure she’ll go to some dance classes here and there and if it turns out that that is what she wants to do, then great, but I’ll support her in whatever she wants to be.”

The busy star admits he has no time for any other projects for now. Aside from touring the country, Brendan is also involved in his own dance academy.

Asking the question on all Brendan-fans’ lips; is there room in his busy schedule for a return to Strictly Come Dancing later this year?

He said: “I have no idea if I will be returning to Strictly; they don’t tell us until quite late whether they want us back or not. But if they want me back, I’d love to be a part of it again for another year.”

Despite his prolific TV career, Brendan admits you can’t beat the excitement of a live audience.

“I love being on TV, it’s very much a huge part of my life but you get such a buzz being on stage. A live audience is very special. The Wycombe Swan takes about a thousand people and when you have that many people wanting to be entertained and you give them this magical show full of energy, it’s an overwhelming feeling.

“I'm so excited to hit the road again.”
