Fourways presents Noises Off

For their Spring Production, Fourways staged that well known farce ‘Noises Off’.

It is a play within a play where a group of actors endeavour to take a play called ‘Nothing On’ on tour in some tatty regional theatres with disastrous results.

Anyone who has ever taken part in a drama production can recognise the pitfalls which make it even funnier but for those who have not had that experience it is still hilarious.

In Act 1 we find the actors having their final rehearsal, unsure of their lines and stage directions and the audience is made aware of what will soon prove to be a disastrous run.

There is also a love triangle which adds even more complications to the already chaotic production.

Act II is a matinee during the run when the action takes place backstage with the set reversed.

Act III, when the actors are all weary with the play, is the final scene which develops into farce.

The set was amazing, the second act was superb and credit must go to the set designers and crew who changed everything around with the minimum of fuss.

Written by Michael Frayn and Directed by Annie Hill together with her team of producers it zipped along at a good pace.

Fourways has a great deal of talent to call on and the play had a very strong cast.

Judging by the audience reaction the evening was a huge success.
