A music sensation from south Bucks – who the BFP interviewed as a 13-year-old Eurovision hopeful ten years ago – is tipped to follow in the footsteps of Adele and become a global star.
Experimental music prodigy Jack Garratt, from Little Chalfont, has won the BBC’s Sound of 2016 list, which highlights the most exciting new artists in music.
The singer said he was "unbelievably, overwhelmingly grateful" for the honour, which has been won by the likes of superstars Adele and Sam Smith.
The bearded multi-instrumentalist spans genres with his songs, which he writes, performs and produces.
In 2005, the BFP revealed how Jack was selected for the final of the contest to pick Great Britain’s songs for Eurovision, after beating 22 other competitors with his song ‘The Girl’ when he was just 13.
His entry came last out of eight.
Among his talents, the 24-year-old plays the piano, bass guitar, drums and trombone.
After being named the BBC’s top rated artist on 2016, Jack, who is also set to receive the Brit Awards Critics’ Choice prize, said: “(It) has left me feeling pretty stunned at the end of one of the most emotionally and physically intense years of my life.
“I cannot thank the BBC enough for their continued support, and everyone who voted for me. Every other name on the list is unbelievably talented, and I hope this year will be a great one for all of us."
His debut album Phase due out in February.
