Begin your walk at the historic Hell Fire Caves and head up West Wycombe hill to take in the views of surrounding countryside from the vantage point of the mausoleum. On your return you will pass through the village of Bradenham – birthplace of Victorian Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli.

START: Car park of Chorley Road garden centre.

For those travelling by car there is parking available at the garden centre.

DISTANCE: 4 1/2 miles (allow 2 – 2.5 hours) From the garden centre turn right towards the A40. At the junction take a left turn up the hill and continue into the entrance of Hell-Fire Caves.

Once the road joins with Church Lane, continue up this lane until you reach a path on the left-hand side which will head into open grassland and the mausoleum.

Go through the churchyard, and take a right into the car park and towards some timber posts and a track. Bearing left of the house, follow the track 800m through the woods, until you reach a fork at which point you will take a right.

Follow the path for 1km until reaching a tarmac road at Nobles Farm. Take the narrow path opposite the entrance to Nobles Farm, dropping steeply down through woods and field, take a right turn and shortly after left under the railway bridge.

Continue through Bradenham, past the Church, until following the wall around the Manor. Continue left, hugging the wall, uphill along a good track. When you reach a fork, turn right into the woods. Bear left up the hill for 400m.

Head straight beyond a junction with footpaths on the left and right, until the track starts to drop downhill at which point turn right along a narrow waymarked path downhill until you reach a metal gate.

Beyond the gate follow the path on the left, alongside the railway until reaching a footpath junction. Take a right here under the railway bridge and cross the field to the main road.

Cross the road with great care, pass through a metal gate and follow the path along the boundary-fence on the right-hand side of the field.

When you reach a metal kissing gate, cross it and climb the gentle uphill slope until you reach Church Lane.

Turn left onto Church lane and continue until you reach the A40 and turn left again and follow the road until reaching the starting point on Chorley Road.
