The Garsington Opera 2016 season will be bringing some of the very best names to Wormsley.
The summer season has a lineup that includes some of history’s most infamous titles, such as Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Mozart’s seria Idomeneo and Rossini’s sparkling L’italiana in Algeri.
All brought to you by British names with international distinction such as tenor Toby Spence and baritone Roderick Williams, who will be making both title role and festival debuts, the former in Idomeneo and the latter Eugene Onegin.
Those working on the productions from behind the scenes are equally renowned, such as director Michael Boyd, former artistic director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, and designer Tom Piper, praised for his commemorative poppy installation, Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red at the Tower of London.
Accompanying productions will be the illustrious Garsington Opera Orchestra, many of whom have been with the company for over 20 years, and the Garsington Opera Chorus, which is comprised of emerging talent from the UK and beyond.
Long intervals will allow attendees to dine in the restaurant marquee that overlooks their famous cricket ground, or have a picnic somewhere in the elegant expanse.
You will also be able to take a trip in a vintage bus to the 18th century walled garden, or enjoy traditional afternoon tea overlooking the cricket pitch.
There is also the opportunity to arrive early in order to enjoy the gardens and grounds of the Wormsley Estate, before performances begin in the early evening.
The Garsington Opera, Wormsley Estate, Stokenchurch, Friday, June 3 until Sunday, July 17. Details: 01865 361636
