ROOTS collective Southern Tenant Folk Union return to Norden Farm tomorrow.
The Edinburgh based six piece are one of the most highly acclaimed folk and bluegrass bands in the UK today.
They burst onto the scene in 2006, selling out venues across the UK and Ireland.
The band have just released their fifth album, Hello Cold Goodbye Sun, featuring new and original songs.
The band features banjo, mandolin, fiddle and harmony vocals, performed acoustically. They have been played on BBC Radio 2, and performed at Celtic Connections, Orkney Folk Festival and the City of London Festival.
They were also awarded Americana Artist of the Year at the British Country Music Awards. Southern Tenant Folk Union combine the old and the new, bringing traditional folk themes up to date to strike a chord with audiences today. Their songs cover everything from the personal fear of crime, or redundancy, to capitalism, all adapted into catchy and poignant music.
The band’s sound brings together many different places, influences and ideas, making them one of the most experimental acoustic folk roots bands around. They are at Norden Farm in Maidenhead on November 20 at 8pm.
Tickets are £15 from 01628 788997 or go to www.nordenfarm.org
