FOLLOWING the success of Garsington Opera’s first community opera, there will be an adult workshop this weekend.

The community opera called Road Rage took place last July as part of the renowned opera's season, which is held at the Wormsley Estate, near Stokenchurch.

The group want to invite adults to the workshop on Saturday to look at how they did it and how to compose an opera.

Working with Garsington Opera’s talented creative team, singing, performance skills, creative writing, composition and devising around the themes of Beethoven’s only opera Fidelio will be worked on throughout the afternoon.

Fidelio is one of the most insightful and humane dramas in the operatic repertoire and represents the individual’s struggle for love, truth and freedom from political oppression.

The creative team will be led by director Karen Gillingham together with vocal director Laura Howe and film/TV composer Ross Power.

Those taking part will have the opportunity of attending the special schools performance of The Cunning Little Vixen during the opera season. Tickets will be at reduced rates.

The workshop will take place tomorrow (Saturday) at 1.30 to 6pm at Millbrook Combined School in High Wycombe.

To book your free place contact Garsington Opera on 01865 361636 or email office@garsingtonopera.org . All welcome. Even those who think they can't sing.
