The Drawingroom in Chesham hosted an evening of magical folk music and emerging young talent.

Caretaker of The Drawingroom, Rickard Elkington, made guests feel relaxed and welcome for a performance by The Portraits, who brought light hearted entertainment.

They were supported by Amersham College’s folk band Every Wolf’s Kingdom, featuring Jason Tolson Ramos, Alice Ryder and Gemma Witcombe, in their first performance arranged without college assistance.

Eleven-year-old guitarist Gaeten Buisson also entertained the guests with a cover of Breakfast at Tiffany’s as well as three of his own compositions.

Aside from the music, thirteen-year-old magician Johnny Carr wandered the tables amazing guests with his card tricks.

As dusk fell The Portraits, husband and wife folk duo Jeremy and Lorraine Millington and violinist Vincent Imbert, sang of the highs and lows of the music industry.

They continue their project to record 2,000 voices to support their single to raise awareness of leukaemia and the importance of bone marrow donation.

Richard Elkington’s little touches of incense and fairy lights added charm to the atmosphere which Lorraine Millington described as ‘magic’.

It seems The Drawingroom brings a special warmth to guests and performers alike.

This year The Portraits will be at Glastonbury for the third time. They are still collecting voices, and all recorded will be credited on their single release.
