A GROUP of keen singer and dancers ranging from 20 to 50-years-old is hoping their audition will be enough to take them through to appear on Britain's Got Talent.

Members from seven groups of Glee Club UK, including High Wycombe's, are rehearsing Ain't No Mountain High Enough for an audition on December 4 to go on the ITV show next year.

The clubs were set up this year after Berkshire based musician and singing teacher, Richard Whennell, was inspired by the American TV show, Glee, which is aired on E4.

And after gathering members they are hoping to take their talent to the TV screen.

Emma Donald, who goes to the Bracknell Glee club, said: "I think there are 80 of us auditioning. If we get through the first stage we then go in January to the televised bit but they will be filming footage at the audition."

She said the song choice is very fitting. "It rather sums up how for ordinary people coming together the sky is the limit. We never thought we would be doing this kind of thing.

"It just summed up the energy of us all singing en masse."

She said Whennell thinks they are going to get through to the final but she said for the time being they are thrilled to just be auditioning.

The High Wycombe Club meets at the Great Kingshill Combined School, Cryers Hill, on Thursdays at 7.45pm for two hours.

There are further groups in Aylesbury, Bracknell, Weybridge and Windsor to name a few.

But Donald said not everyone likes the TV show, Glee. She said: "It is half and half. Half the people love it and watch it avidly whereas the other half have not seen it and are not interested."

She said there is a real family atmosphere at the clubs and every one just loves getting together to sing and dance.

High Wycombe Glee Club will be performing at the turning on of the Christmas lights in High Wycombe on Thursday, November 17.
