New music coming to Chesham
2:00pm Saturday 9th June 2012 in Music By James Nadal
Allman Brown
EARS will be tingling with delight at the sounds of original live music, organisers of a new regular gig are hoping.
Established and up and coming artists, who have created their own tunes, will play in the recently refurbished intimate Loft Bar, upstairs at the George & Dragon, High Street, Chesham.
Organiser Martin Freeman, from Chesham, said: "I go to see lots of bands going into town in Shepherd's Bush but to see bands which are original locally and to a decent standard it's very limited.
"There's lots of pub bands and cover bands but not so much original so we decided to change that."
The first two events have been extremely busy, he said, though the next is up against the England Euro 2012 game.
Martin, who has run a house music club night at the pub's loft bar for a long time, said the genre will range from folk, indie, pop and rap to acoustic.
The next installment of the monthly music night, called Music To Your Ears, is June 15.
Martin said: "The evening kicks off supporting local talent with Chesham's Rob Lehane and his new acoustic project. With most of the material only just finished recently you can be the first to hear it as it gets it's first airing."
He also highlighted 'amazing' London singer/songwriter Allman Brown, who is currently working on an album at Kensaltown Studios.
The second headliner is Northampton's Billy Lockett whose latest single Balance has been played on daytime Radio 1 recently. Martin said: "Having played his way from the basement to the studio, whilst captivating fans from YouTube to shows up and down the country, it’s no surprise that Billy’s been attracting attention from some of the biggest names in the industry."
£5 tickets can be booked in advance for this gig by going to www.wegottickets.com/event/163135 or you can pay at the door on the night for £7. For more info on these gigs and all future dates join the Facebook group at www.facebook.com/groups/351300314913648/
