Moby - Last Night (Mute) ****
HAVING done the electronica (18) and had a stab at singer-songwritery (Hotel), Moby is heading back to the dancefloor highs of Play, acknowledging his roots behind the decks in New York's Future Shock club with a series of no-holds-barred, four on the floor house anthems.
Oh, it's a full dance package as well. Everyday It's Like 1989 transports you right back to what has become known as The Day, but there's also a sprinkling of Moroder-esque disco on Ooh Yeah, lumpy hip hop on I'm In Love and even a downtempo comedown mood on Degener-ates. Given that Moby is better known these days for raving on his blog than tearing up clubland, Last Night should go some way to redressing the balance.
Given his grasp of the dancefloor pulse, a bit more future-shock might've been in order.
