Sought-after duo in Marlow

BRITAIN'S best known jazz partnership are heading to Marlow later this month, to play at the town's ever popular jazz club. Alan Barnes and Bruce Adams will take to the stage on Tuesday, May 13, in a concert sure to delight jazz fans.

Both Bruce and Alan are British Jazz Award winners, and Michael Eagleton from the club tells us: "Alan and Bruce are amongst the most popular musicians on the scene.

"They are also two of the busiest, so we are especially pleased to find a date they can both manage."

"An entertaining night is in prospect with both star guests being known for an offbeat sense of humour as well as suberb musicianship."
Michael Eagleton

During the performance, Alan will be playing on the alto, tenor and baritone saxophones. Alan first came onto the jazz scene as a member of the late Humphrey Lyttelton's band in the 1970s.

Bruce will be showing off his skills on the trumpet and the flugelhorn. He has been a major figure in the jazz world since his victory on Opportunity Knocks in the 1960s, when he was just ten years old.

Together, Bruce and Alan pack out jazz clubs across Europe. They have also recorded three albums as a duo, with their late 1990s offering Side Stepping winning a CD Of The Year Award.

At the Marlow Jazz Club they will be backed by the resident Frank Toms Trio.

Michael says: "An entertaining night is in prospect with both star guests being known for an offbeat sense of humour as well as suberb musicianship."

The Alan Barnes and Bruce Adams concert takes place on Tuesday, May 13 at Marlow Jazz CLub, Royal British Legion, Station Approach, Marlow. Details: www.marlowjazz.co.uk
