Is there a better way to thank your mum or dad for all they’ve done for you than taking them to dinner at the White house?

That’s what Frank Ocean and Chance the Rapper did, giving up potential romantic dates to take their parents to Barack Obama’s final State Dinner.

The dinner, hosted the prime minister of Italy Matteo Renzi and his wife Agnese Landini, included a crowd of more than 400 special guests.

Chance took his dad, saying on Twitter: “Thanks Dad for raising me right. Look at us all fancy for the White House.” It turns out his father Ken Bennett worked alongside Obama in Chicago at one time, so we’re sure he was pleased to be reunited with him.

He even removed his signature hat for the occasion.

Frank Ocean took his mum…

…who seemed pretty darn pleased to be there.

Fans were in awe of the artists’ statement in taking their parents, sharing their appreciation on Twitter.

People also loved Frank’s choice of footwear – a pair of chequered Vans.

These guys are a lesson to us all. Respect your parents and always wear comfy shoes.
