The latest James Bond blockbuster Spectre has beaten Avatar to become the UK’s highest grossing Imax film of all time.

Spectre, directed by Sam Mendes and starring Daniel Craig, has gone on to gross £6.66 million (10.1 million US dollars) in the first four weeks since it was released on October 26.

The record was previously held by James Cameron’s Avatar, which grossed £6.55 million in 2009 at the UK Imax box office.

Spectre has beaten Avatar only if inflation is not taken into account, however.

When comparing the figures for both films on a like-for-like basis, Avatar’s Imax box office is £7.91 million, £1.25 million more than Spectre.
