Let’s do the Time Warp again! It’s The Rocky Horror Picture Show’s 40th anniversary this year, and to celebrate there will be a special gala screening of the cult musical at the Royal Albert Hall.
As well as showing the film, co-created by Richard O’Brien, there will also be an on-stage Q&A with members of the cast at the outrageous event on October 27.
Director of events Lucy Noble said: “Rocky Horror is a cult phenomenon like no other, and we can’t wait to welcome cast members and fans alike to this very special, one-off celebration of a deliciously twisted confection.
“It’s set to be an unforgettable evening for everyone involved, though for one group of fans in particular, there’s a truly unique opportunity – the opportunity to do the Time Warp on the world’s most famous stage, in front of 5,000 people.”
The event will also be broadcast live to more than 600 cinemas across the UK – the first time the Royal Albert Hall has taken part in such a link-up.
Blackpool’s Winter Gardens will hold the Time Warp Dance Festival in September, and the winning contestants will be invited to perform on stage at the Royal Albert Hall.
The event starts at 7pm on October 27, with tickets priced between £22.90 and £33.65.
The Rocky Horror Show musical made its debut at the Royal Court Theatre in June 1973 and has since been performed in over 20 countries and 10 languages.
