The EU referendum was the talk of Glastonbury Festival as voting began on Thursday.

Several festival-goers could be seen proudly wearing “I’m In” badges to support the Remain campaign, which counts Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis as an outspoken supporter.

A large proportion of the 180,000 campers expected over the weekend entered the site on Wednesday and Eavis had repeatedly urged them to arrange a postal or proxy vote as the Worthy Farm site has no polling station.

On the morning of the vote, however, there was still confusion from ticket holders as to whether they could vote on site.

One user tweeted Glastonbury Festival’s official account asking for help for their child.

She posted: “My son asked how to vote if you are at a festival – My answer is I don’t know.”

“Unfortunately there are no polling stations on site this year,” came the quick reply.

There had been worries that the clash could affect the result of whether Britain decides to stay in the EU if attendees did not get their votes in on time.
