CHESHAM Musical Theatre Company offered a clever interpretation through song and dance of the seven deadly sins.

Sloth, Envy, Gluttony, Avarice, Pride, Lust and finally Wrath. The lively opening with The Rhythm of Life, was led by a preacher who commented throughout on the sins and their consequences.

Using a great selection of well known songs very cleverly selected by co-directors Judith Watsham and Peter Brown the show went along at a lively pace The superb musicians under their Musical Director Julia Whitbread brilliantly supported the cast.

I liked the casual laid back way the cast were dressed with the exception of a few rather fancy outfits, and the song Master of the House from Les Miserables in the form of a school was hilarious with several of the cast dressed as school boys and girls albeit some of them rather mature brought the first half to a close.

There was some fine singing and melodious harmonies with lively chorus work with the audience clapping along.. Chesham Musical Theatre is fortunate in having so many with great voices which always adds to any performance.

The lighting throughout was exceptional especially Bill Sykes song from Oliver which was dramatically lit.

To bring the show to a close and alleviate any depression from all the deadly sins, we were entertained by a delightful rendition of Love Changes Everything with a glittering backdrop and fantastic lighting.

The audience, though not large expressed their delight and enthusiasm in the usual way and the lively finish was uplifting. This was a most enjoyable performance.
