FOURWAYS selected this comedy for their latest production, and they delighted their many fans.
An amateur theatre group are having a barbecue where the latest musical production will be announced. Cleverly written by Frank Vickery the characters, (and many in drama groups will recognise their personalities) have all gathered to hear the announcement.
They each have their own agenda and their own idea of which musical should be chosen and as the action unfolds the characters in the group begin to develop.
The comedy element develops in the devious ways which they go about it. The usual back biting and spiteful remarks are evident. The dynamics change as members fall out with each other and each member endeavours to influence the director into choosing the musical they wish to star in.
Rob Wratten playing Teddy had the best role with the funniest lines and he certainly made the most of every one. With a large cast it is not possible to mention each individually suffice it to say they all played their parts well.
Directed and produced by Steve Knight with four assistant producers there was plenty of expertise on hand. The excellent set by James Aitken who was in charge of construction aided by members of the group. It was beautifully designed and very authentic.
Props by Margaret and John Sendall enhanced the set. Roise Dudley was responsible for the authentic costumes. The lighting and sound were professionally achieved.
After a slow start the action picked up and the laughs grew. The audience was very appreciative and a special mention must go to the final scene when all the cast performed a lively and well received dance routine.
I am sure the many followers of Fourways were delighted with their evening’s entertainment.
Their next production is an open air Shakespeare Much Ado About Nothing and anyone who saw last year’s Midsummer Night’s Dream will I am sure be looking forward to attending either at Wycombe High School 23/24th May or Uplands House De Vere Venue 30th May – 2nd June
