MP Since - 2001 Majority - 7,051 Born - 17/11/1959. Married, 1 son.

Education - Cranleigh School, York University.

Previous Occupation - Journalist - Daily Telegraph (Comment Editor 1995-2001), Catholic Herald.

Personal Overview - Eurospectic journalist formerly with the Daily Telegraph who was a key critic of the Blair Government on its page during the its first term. Although a rightwinger by nature he displays a personal liberalism with his attitude towards drugs policy, now favouring gradual decriminalisation, a position which has softened from outright legalisation. His family background is Jewish, though he personally spent two years as a novice monk, and was for one year the Home Affairs Editor of the Catholic Herald. His journalistic skills have been put to use by the Party as a speech writer for William Hague. Announced in June 2009 that he would be standing down at the next General Election.
