Some of the worst rat runs and pinch points on Marlow’s crammed roads could be freed up after the council revealed a list of blackspots to introduce parking restrictions.

An ‘informal consultation’ has been launched by Buckinghamshire County Council looking at problem areas to paint with double yellow lines.

They include Dean Street, where residents have complained about pavements being blocked by parked cars, and notorious cut-through spots such as Southview Road and Spring Gardens.

Council spokesman Dan Elworthy said: “Transport for Buckinghamshire have been working closely with the local County Councillor and Marlow Town Council to agree the scope of roads and parking proposals to go forward to informal consultation to review current and future waiting restrictions.

“The consultation is taking place based on details provided by MTC of the parking issues being experienced in Marlow. “

The plans are up for comment until May 15 after which the council use residents’ comments to put forward concrete proposals in a formal consultation before works are carrried out.

The areas covered in the review were flagged up by Marlow Town Council as some of the worst areas in town for motorists and pedestrians.

They include whole swathes of Dean Street, Wiltshire Road, a small section of Claremont Gardens and part of West Street.

But the plans are separate to the long-awaited town-wide parking review, which is set to take place this summer.

It is hoped this large-scale assessment will end Marlow’s parking woes, with residents in narrow streets looking for permit-only spots and businesses calling for low-cost employee parking areas.
