The search is on to find to brightest sports star and most dedicated community worker in Marlow as one of the highlights of Regatta weekend returns this summer.

The Mayor’s Annual Reception at Court Garden during the Town Regatta celebrations on June 13 honours the finest residents with a range of special awards.

And a hunt has begun for this year’s winners of the Sports Personality of the Year and Community Award prizes

Last year, up-and-coming taekwondo star Adam Bonwick from Great Marlow School walked away with the sports award.

And stalwart volunteer Peter Land was honoured with the Community Award for his worked with the League of Friends of Marlow Cottage Hospital.

The gongs are given alongside the coveted Mayors Award, last year given to Royal British Legion veteran Shaun Murphy who was celebrated for his work organising the huge remembrance events Marlow has become famous for.

The winners will be announced at the annual lunch, attended by community figures and dignitaries during the first day of the Regatta celebrations in Marlow.

Nominations can be sent to jan@marlow-tc.gov.uk or posted to the town council, along with contact details and a description of the nominee’s achievements or endeavour.
