A generous group of pupils at a Marlow school handed over a cheque to their two chosen charities after a fundraising drive.

The Great Marlow School Interact Club - a junior branch of Rotary - presented £840 to Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) and Marlow-based Build on Books.

Jo Braybrooke of Marlow Thames Rotary Club, which works with the selfless youngsters, said: "They raised the money through cake sales and a quiz night and assisting our Rotary Club at a couple of events.

"It is quite an achievement for them and our Rotary Club . We are very proud of them."

Build on Books was started by Lori Spragg, from Marlow, and started out to improve literacy in Sierra Leone before acting to help after the county was hit by Ebola last year.

CRY - of which former Great Marlow rowing champion Sir Steve Redgrave is a patron - works to prevent sudden deaths in a children caused by undiagnosed heart conditions.

The school has supported the charity since the death of pupil Nathan Foley in 2013, who tragically collapsed and died while playing football.
