Bob Johnson, mayor of Marlow, tell us about his motoring history and why he just can't bear to be without a Jaguar.

What is the make and model of car? Jaguar S Type 3.2 litre

How long have you had your car? 18 months. It was a courtesy car whilst my wife’s car was being MOT'd & liked it so much I bought it! I had just lost my XJ6 3.2 Sport to a broken cam shaft after 245000 miles –so I was in Jag mourning.

What do you like about your it? Style, quietness and comfort – oh, and it’s a Jaguar.

What’s the most memorable trip you’ve been on in it? Nothing yet, but am planning a trip to the Italian lakes.

How did you come by it? This S Type was originally purchased by a resident in Bisham who recognised it on my driveway and knocked on the door to introduce himself and explain he had sold it to a Jaguar specialists in Taplow as it required a new Auto box  and it was too expensive a job so traded it in. They restored it and they loaned it to me as the courtesy car!

What do you listen to on the stereo? Joe Cocker and old Tony Hancock’s Half Hour radio programmes, or Radio 5 Live.

What do you keep in the glovebox? Adaptors.

Who would be your dream passenger? Jimmy Greaves.

What was your first car? A Ford Anglia 100E

What’s the worst car you’ve ever driven? A Wolsey Horney – absolutely terrible.

And the best? A Jaguar E Type (Series two)

What’s your car history? Ford Anglia 100E in 1965, Riley1.5 sport, Triumph Spitfire, Triumph TR 3A, Triumph TR 4, Triumph 1500, Triumph 2.5i, Jaguar E Type, MGBGT Hard Top, Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, Ford Sierra, Ford Granada, Ford Capri Carousel Limited Edition, Ford Mondeo, Jaguar XJ6 3.2 Sport and my current Jaguar S Type.

If money were no object, what would be your dream car? The New Jaguar XJ Saloon
