Travellers who were believed to have moved on from Marlow have taken over a park in the town.

Around 12 caravans arrived yesterday at Seymour Court Recreation Ground off Seymour Court Road, and are understood to have forced entry through a locked gate.

The travellers are thought to be the same group that took up residence on Globe Park business park, opposite the Marlow Club on Fieldhouse Lane and outside the Crowne Plaza hotel last week.

Police had told the BFP that the group had moved on to Essex, but yesterday evening several vehicles moved in, followed by more later last night.

Neighbours have reported anti-social behaviour from the group, as well noise and mess on the Marlow Town Council-owned playing fields.

One resident, who did not want to be named, said: “They are shouting, kids running round litter and dogs everywhere.”

Police confirmed they were called to the scene last night.

Thames Valley Police Spokesman Connie Primmer said: "Police were called at around 9pm last night to reports of travellers arriving in the park in Seymour Court Road, Marlow.

"This is council land. Police are supporting the landowners (council) to enable them to leave as soon as possible."

Representatives from the town council – including mayor Bob Johnson – have visited the site to talk to the occupants.

Pictures to follow.
