Two presidents will share the duties at the helm of a philanthropic Marlow club for the next year after the group met to celebrate last year’s achievements.

The Marlow Inner Wheel Club, a ladies branch of Rotary, held their AGM last week and handed the chains to Angela Churchill and Jan Harper to share.

And the group paid tribute to Ms Churchill, who stepped in to help lead the charity group upon the sad death of popular president Evelyne Philpot last March.

Member Joan Clerehugh said: “She has worked with great enthusiasm to uphold our aims of promoting friendship, taking part in Community Service and fostering International understanding.

“We owe her a big thank you.”

In the past year the club has raised over £3000 for good causes, making donations to three national , four international and five local charities.

One of special interest to the group is charity ‘Young Deaf Activities’ who help youngsters with hearing problems to become confident and independent.

The Inner Wheel club is the world’s largest women’s organisation, with branches in over 100 countries.

It was launched in 1924 by a group of wives of Rotary Club members and continues to pursue its goals of fundraising, service and friendship.
