Organisers say the newest addition to the Marlow Town Regatta line-up was a success, with hundreds showing up for an open-air theatre performance despite less-than-perfect weather conditions.

Audiences headed to Higginson Park for an open-air screening of opera Vert Vert on Sunday, with a giant screen erected in front of Court Garden house in Higginson Park.

The free event has been funded by Wycombe District Council and Shanly Group, and is produced by world-renowned, Bucks-based Garsington Opera.

And despite temperatures being lower than in previous years, organisers say around 300 people braved the conditions to enjoy the show.

Vice president of the regatta organising committee Lance Slater said: “Despite it being a bit cold we had a good crowd.

“We had between two and three hundred brave souls, we didn’t realistically expect more than that as it’s the first time this has been done.

“It was beautifully done and we hope something similar can be continued next year.”
