A Marlow resident has hit out at the ‘unacceptable’ lack of grass cutting in her road.

Marion Case, who lives in Claremont Gardens, says the grass has only been cut in certain places.

She said: “It is very strange. That’s the only word for it. The grass on the inner circle has been cut about a month ago but they left the outer circle. They haven’t cut that in about a year.

“I don’t understand why they have only cut the grass on one side of the road. I just don’t know what the problem is; we pay our taxes like everyone else so why has it not been cut?”

Mrs Case, who has lived in the road for 30 years, says the grass comes up to her knees in some places.

She said: “I have never seen anything like this in the whole time I have lived here. It’s just not acceptable. For thirty years they have managed to cut the grass fine, so what has changed? It’s incredible.

“I want them to come and cut the grass. There is no logical reason why they haven’t done it.”

The fed up resident also told how she has involved her local councillors, but it has made no difference.

She said: “They were very helpful and gracious enough to reply to me, but it still hasn’t been cut. I just don’t know why.”

Cllr Richard Scott, who has been chasing the issue up with Bucks County Council, said: "I have reported it to the County Council because they have done some of it and not all of it.

"It's not an excuse, but I know they are sometimes reluctant to cut the grass when there are vehicles parked close to the grass so they don't throw up stones and damage them."

A statement from Transport for Bucks said: “TfB is aware of the problem in Claremont Gardens but must ensure that we don't damage vehicles which are parked very close to the area requiring cutting. There is currently a constant presence of vehicles very close to the verge in Claremont Gardens.

“Whilst trying to keep to the programme we will endeavour to return [on Friday] to try to cut the area again."
