A Marlow councillor says a survey on leisure services will shape the long-term future of the town’s "most valuable community asset" as he urges residents to have their say.

Wycombe District Council is asking Marlovians to air their views on sport pitches, courts and activities in Marlow - with questions mainly focused on the Court Garden Leisure Complex.

Former WDC leader Alex Collingwood, who represents Marlow North and West, said the response to the consultation has been good but insists it is vital as many people as possible get their opinions heard.

The six-week survey - available on the council’s website and in paper form at the leisure centre or Marlow Information Centre - closes on August 2.

Cllr Collingwood said: "We have an excellent response so far but as there are 17,000 residents in Marlow I want as many of them to have their say.

"The feedback they give us will shape what Court Gardens will look like for the next 25 years.

"The whole community use the various facilities throughout the year. From Swimming, Trampolining and Badminton to Weddings , Receptions and School Proms to name just a few.

"I have completed my survey as has my wife and son. I keen for other families to complete theirs too.

"Court Garden is valued at nearly £7 million so is the most valuable community asset we have in Marlow."

Cllr Collingwood said there are no major changes currently planned at the centre, and that the survey is a "genuine information gathering exercise" to mould leisure services the way residents want.

It is over 40 years since Court Garden opened its doors as a leisure centre, which nestles alongside the Georgian mansion of the same name in the heart of Higginson Park.

The report will be completed and published by the end of the year. Visit www.wycombe.gov.uk for more information about the survey.
