It was smiles all round this morning as Marlow schools continued to celebrate their summer of success following the release of GCSE results today.

Sir William Borlase's Grammar School were proud to announce a record-breaking set of results, with a staggering 75 per cent of grades at A*-A, a three percent rise on last year.

The average grade at the grammar school worked out to be an A, and a grand total of 27 students achieved at least eight A* grades.

Head teacher, Dr Peter Holding said: “We are very proud of this year group, who all worked extremely hard to achieve these successes. It looks very likely to be our best ever results.

“They also owe a huge debt of gratitude to all of their teachers, who put in countless hours to support them throughout the past few years. Virtually all of the year group will now move on to successful sixth form careers, either here or in other local sixth forms."

Sarah Williams, who achieved nine A*s and one A said: “I’m really pleased, I worked really hard to its good to see it all pay off.”

Talented footballer Robert Tuckerman, who joined the Borlase County Football team two years early, tackled a demanding football schedule along with his revision and still managed to scoop 5A*s and 5A’s.

Robert said: “I didn’t expect this all, I worked hard but there’s always a doubt in your mind that you won’t do as well as you should.”

Head of key stage four, Stuart Hill, also took the chance to congratulate the year group saying: “I’m really pleased with the achievements of the year group and the work and dedication that they have put in to achieve these fantastic results.”

The success continued at Great Marlow School with 71 percent of students achieving five or more A*-C grades and 42 percent got five or more A* - B grades.

Head teacher, Geralyn Wilson said: “We are delighted with these results and more importantly the hard work and effort of the students has been rewarded with such excellent results, especially when set against a national picture of harder exams and a drop in overall outcomes.

“We benefit from a talented and committed team of teachers, and together with supportive parents, we intend to continue this consistent trend of achievements at great Marlow School.”

Jake Dennis, who got 5 A*s, 6 As and 1 B said: “I’m so happy, it’s such a relief I can finally enjoy the last bit of summer we have left.”

Harry Donkin grabbed 5 A*s, 5 As, a B and a C, and said: “I’m very pleased, I worked really hard and had good support from the departments from revision sessions and extra help from staff.”
