Thousands of people fell silent across south Bucks this morning to mark Remembrance Sunday. 

A two-minute silence was observed at 11am to honour those killed in World Wars One and Two and later wars.

In High Wycombe, three acts of remembrance took place, starting with a wreath laying at Wycombe Hospital War Memorial at 9am. 

At 9.45am an service took place at the Dunkirk Memorial on Castle Street, before a civic parade left from Queen Victoria Road at 10.30am.

The mayor Cllr Mohammed Hanif and the deputy lieutenant of Bucks took the salute in the High Street before proceeding to the memorial outside All Saints Church.

Wycombe MP Steve Baker was present while wreaths were laid, before a service took place in the church.

Meanwhile in Marlow, the town came to a standstill as the Remembrance Day Parade marched from the Royal British Legion on Station Approach to The Causeway at around 10.30am.

A number of veterans, servicemen and women and dignitaries lined the streets, including Air Marshal Sir Colin George Terry who took the salute, town mayor Cllr Bob Johnson and Jean-Yves Perrot, the mayor of Marly le Roi – Marlow’s twinned town in France.

After a short service and laying of wreaths, the procession continued up the High Street.
