Students have been encouraged to free their feet this week and walk to school as part of a campaign to make Marlow more pedestrian friendly.
Sir William Borlase Grammar School on West Street has hosted a ‘walk to school week’ as part of its plight to achieve eco-school status – an award that celebrates green thinking schools.
The initiative, led by walking charity Living Streets, also saw students audit the area with a view to make suggestions to the council on how to make the streets more pedestrian friendly.
Beth Metcalf, from Living Streets said: “They are hoping to increase the walking rate at the school, which will decrease congestion at the school gates, improve health and give children the chance for face to face social interaction.”
The eco schools award is just one of a number of accolades staff and students are working towards leading up to the school’s 400th anniversary in 2024.
