The NHS has said there is not a need for a new Doctor’s surgery in Marlow despite residents' fears than an increasing population will put further strain on the already struggling practice.

This comes after MP Dominic Grieve said a new doctors surgery would be a valuable addition to the town but there would have to be a clear need for it.

He said: “I meet regularly with the CCG Group it’s something we can put to the board.

“There would obviously have to be a clear need for it but when appointment times have reached saturation like it sounds like they have in Marlow then it would make a case.

“If primary care in the area is not sufficient then there is a system in place to rectify that.”

This follows complaints from doctors at the Victoria Road surgery who say the increasing elderly population and struggling social care is putting added pressure on appointments at the practice.

However NHS England said assessments of health needs across Bucks currently show that there is not a need for a new practice in Marlow.
