After years of campaigning safety measures could finally be installed on a notoriously busy school road in Marlow thanks to the success of a family running race this weekend.
The £7,000 raised by the fourth annual Danesfield Dash on Sunday (April 17) is set to fund warning signs outside Danesfield School on the A4155, if it gains permission from the council.
Parents and teachers at the school have been battling for about a decade to reduce the "outrageous" speed limit on the road from 60 to 40mph, with the "Brake don't Brake" campaign gathering 1500 supporters.
Last year they were given a glimmer of hope after the school was awarded money by the Local Area Forum - a panel that decides how to spend council cash on community projects.
However the campaign took a step backwards after Bucks County Council froze all non-essential spending as it looks set to overspend nearly £6m of its annual budget.
The campaign has received celebrity support from TV star Phillip Schofield, who picked the winning campaign posters from an inter-school competition.
The school is waiting to hear back from the council before work can begin.
