A Marlow mum has raised almost £7,000 for charity in memory of her dad after running the London Marathon on Sunday exactly ten years after his death.
Emma Hellewell, from Glade Road, took on the gruelling race on Sunday, April 24 to raise money for Beating Bowel Cancer, after her dad Peter died from the disease in 2006.
The mother of two smashed her initial target of £5,000 so upped it to £7,000, entering any sponsors £30 or over in to a raffle to win a three course dinner party for six.
And after months of training Mrs Hellewell completed the marathon in three hours and 58 mins.
Beating Bowel Cancer’s Fundraising Events Manager, Danielle Chamberlain, said: “We’re so grateful for Emma’s support and fundraising efforts, which will help the charity continue to help those affected by bowel cancer.”
