A father from Marlow Bottom who pleaded guilty to fly tipping last week claimed his pressurised life forced him to dump the waste illegally, as he was moving house at the time and has a young family.

Gary Boyle, 39, from Burford Close pleaded guilty to illegally dumping the waste in Burnham at High Wycombe Magistrates on Wednesday May 18.

The court heard that in December 2015 waste was dumped illegally in Allerds Road, and following an investigation Boyle was interviewed by Buck County Council waste officers.

During interview, he explained he had approached the nearby Household Waste and Recycling Centre to dispose of the rubbish, but was turned down because he required a van permit.

Boyle then confessed to dumping the waste at the roadside, saying he was under pressure due to moving house and a young family.

He was fined £1,230 and was ordered to pay £642 in costs and a £123 victim surcharge which came to a total of £1,995.

Mike Smith, Chairman of the Joint Waste Partnership for Buckinghamshire, said: "Dumping unwanted items in such a cavalier and irresponsible fashion shows total disregard for the environment - and the court's decision reflects how seriously this is taken.

"Permits for household waste recycling centres are quick and simple to obtain - there is no excuse whatever for simply disposing of rubbish at the roadside. Consider first whether it's worth a hefty court fine and a criminal record."
