Three bright pupils gained all A* GCSEs at Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School in another year of “outstanding” results.

Over 70 per cent of pupils at the school in West Street, Marlow, got A* or A grades and over a third of students got all A grades or better.

Three pupils gained all A* grades – with Anya Sales and Luke Johnston getting 10 A* grades, while Isobel Davis got A* grades in her 10 GCSEs, plus an A grade in Mandarin Chinese as an extra.

Luke also got an A in additional maths and As in two A-Level maths modules.

Isabelle Peplow got all A* and As and said she was “really happy” with her results and plans to stay on at the school to do A-Levels before heading to university.

She said: “I am really happy and really relieved, I revised really hard – the hardest I've ever worked. I want to be a lawyer so I really needed this. I'm so happy.”

It was not quite a record-breaking year for the school, but headmaster Dr Peter Holding said he was “really pleased” with the results.

He said: "In a year with a great deal of uncertainty about changing exams, and indications of a lot of volatility expected for the results, we are delighted to see so many of our young people once again gaining exceptional results.

“I'm very pleased that the vast majority have decided to stay on into our Sixth Form, and we expect them to be joined by a record number of external students to form a very strong new A-Level group.

“This is a great tribute to all of their hard work, and the support they have received from all of their teachers."
