Community spirit “shone through” as Marlow Camera Club celebrated its 50th birthday at the weekend with the help of the mayor.
The popular club, which was founded in the same year that England won the World Cup, held a special party at All Saints Church Hall on Saturday, August 27.
Town mayor Bob Johnson helped the club welcome visitors, who could view and buy their members’ work and linger over the nostalgia exhibits, which included a camera from the Boer War.
Rowena Wolton, from Marlow Camera Club, said she hoped the birthday bash would encourage new members to join and see the “joys of photography”.
She said: “We are a fun group, we have a lot of fun and we want to encourage new members to join us because we need them, but also so they can see there is more to photography than just putting something in a frame.
“The club spirit just shone through, it was wonderful. I was so proud of everyone. The spirit of the day was to show what we do and it went really well.”
Mayor Bob Johnson said he was "delighted" to open the exhibition.
He added: "The Camera Club provides great support to our Marlow Community and also provides an excellent insight into the whole aspect of photography. The club meets regularly and are always looking to increase membership so lets support them."
