A popular park played host to the “biggest and best ever” carnival Marlow has ever seen at the weekend.

Despite the chilly weather, the rain held off as thousands of people enjoyed the annual festivities in Higginson Park on Saturday.

The traditional town carnival has been run by the Marlow Community Association for more than 30 years.

Peter Donegan, who has been organising the fun family day for 12 years, said the event was a huge success once again.

He said: “It went exceedingly well. It was the biggest and best we have ever had. There wasn’t a single space for another stall and there were lots of people passing through all day.

“We had fantastic music from local bands like Reeve and dancing from theatre schools and everyone enjoyed the barbecue.”

There was also a “popular” obstacle course by Immortal Fitness and a classic car show with a “beautiful” Rolls Royce, pony rides and go-karts during the six-hour celebration.

More than 200 children, along with their parents, also took part in an Olympic-themed procession from the cricket pitch to the park.
