Marlow's mayor has praised Richard Scott for his "outstanding" work as a county councillor after it was announced he is stepping down from the role.

The Free Press announced last week that the former Wycombe District Council leader is to leave his county council role in May next year, but will remain on the town and district council.

Town mayor Bob Johnson has now publicly thanked him for his "outstanding contribution" over the past eight years.

He said: "We would like to thank Richard on behalf of the community for his dedication in influencing direction and decisions on behalf of Marlow Town over the last eight years at BCC; his contribution has been significant.

"Richard has served in local government for over 14 years and during that time has been Leader of Wycombe District Council and Mayor of Marlow twice.

"Richard has always focused on doing the best for Marlow, so we will miss his input at BCC on our behalf, but look forward to his continued help and commitment on Wycombe District Council and Marlow Town Council matters."

Cllr Scott is currently the only representative of the Marlow electoral decision at BCC and it has not yet been revealed who will replace him.
