A Marlow pupil who wrote to the Queen was “over the moon” to receive a reply and a picture from the royal.

Samantha Sims, who goes to Bisham C of E School, sent a birthday card to the Queen for her 90th birthday, as well as a letter telling her all about her school.

The pupil explained to Her Majesty about how she has learnt to play cricket at the school, in Church Lane, as well as describing her head teacher, Hayley Broad.

As well as a picture of herself, a letter and a note was returned saying “I send you my grateful thanks for the kind words you have sent me on the occasion of my ninetieth birthday.”

Samantha’s mum, Paula, said: “She was so surprised and over the moon when she received a reply and picture from the Queen and the first thing she wanted to do was to show her friends and teachers who were all equally excited and proud of their fellow pupil.

“Samantha has been at Bisham for over a year now after moving from her previous school, and has grown in confidence. She described her school and beautiful grounds and how she now enjoys learning.”
