Thousands of people descended on Marlow High Street to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of one of the town’s best-loved festive traditions last night.

The annual Late Night Shopping event, organised by the Marlow Chamber of Commerce, kicked off at 6pm with a record number of stalls lining the street.

A host of Marlow businesses, charities and organisations, including Rotary clubs, Rebellion brewery and school Young Enterprise groups were offering mince pies and mulled wine to warm up cold spectators.

Firefighters from Marlow brought their fire engine along for the occasion and showed children around the controls, while Bucks Search and Rescue's specially trained search dogs were on hand for the evening.

A number of fairground rides and the popular reindeer kept children entertained, while parents browsed the stalls.

As well as temporary stalls, many of the town’s shops and businesses stayed open late and offered treats and discounts to eager Christmas shoppers.

The popular annual event ran alongside the premiere of Tom Kerridge's pop-up picture house, which saw radio and television presenter, Chris Evans, roll into the High Street on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
