A brave mum suffering from cancer who wished to see her son open his presents on Christmas Day this year, has tragically died.

Nina Cusick, originally from Marlow Bottom, passed away on Thursday after developing an infection, her devastated husband Ed announced today.

Doctors first discovered Nina had lesions on her liver when she was taken to A&E with what the couple thought were pregnancy pains at 34 weeks last year.

Their son, Teddy, was delivered by emergency caesarean and Nina was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma liver cancer and primary cancer in her upper bowel.

Ed launched 'Nina's Fight', to help raise money for specialised treatments and therapies for his wife, and friends of the couple, who moved to Aylesbury, rushed to help organise fundraising events.

Nina's wish was to see her son open his stocking on Christmas Day and more than £100,000 was raised to fund a drug that was unavailable on the NHS, in a bid to extend her life so she could take part in a new cancer trial next year.

Today, however, Ed posted a Facebook status announcing that Nina had passed away, leaving him "beyond destroyed."

He said: "It is with the worst pain I have ever felt that I am writing this to inform all our friends that I have tragically lost my Nina.

"I am beyond destroyed. She was my world."

The Bucks Free Press has now received a number of calls paying tribute to Nina.
