Marlow Air Cadets will enjoy team building and outdoor activities thanks to a donation from the Shanly Foundation.

Members of the 1811 Marlow Air Cadets will be visiting the Arete Outdoor Activity Centre in the Brecon Beacons for their squadron camp this summer, and will enjoy activities including abseiling, sailing and kayaking.

A donation of £2,000 was made to the 1811 Marlow Air Cadets by the Foundation, which is part of the Shanly Group, earlier this month to help the group enjoy outdoor events.

Simon Boddy, press officer and civilian instructor at 1811 Marlow Air Cadets said: “We at 1811 Squadron are very grateful to the Shanly Foundation for their generous donation towards our summer camp.

“Camps like these are important for building teamwork and a sense of community, taking responsibility and promoting self-confidence in our cadets.

“For some, these trips are the only way to have an experience outside their normal living environment, and of course the cadets take home many experiences that will stay with them forever.”

Tamra Booth, group operations director at Shanly Group and a trustee of Shanly Foundation, said they were “delighted” to be able to help the cadets.

She said: “We’re always keen to support local groups and schools and were delighted to be able to help the 1811 Marlow Air Cadets with their trip to the Brecon Beacons later this year.

“We know how important team building and broader life skills are to young children and camps like ones the 1811 Marlow Air Cadets run provide this.

“We hope the kids enjoy their camp this summer and look forward to hearing all about it.”
