Offices in Marlow High Street could be converted into a “wellness and fitness” space if plans are given the go-ahead.

Richard Weaver, from Yelo Fitness, has submitted a prior notification application to change offices at 65 High Street into a wellness centre, with a space for “holistic activities” like Pilates and yoga.

The site would also feature treatment rooms for physiotherapy, sports massage, beauty therapy and nutrition consultation.

In a bid to calm fears over noise pollution during office hours, the application says sound from the centre would be “minimal” because of the “calm, ambient” mood of the classes held there.

A cycling studio with stationary exercise bikes would also be quiet, with cyclists using headphones to listen to class instructor’s commands and music like a “silent disco.”

The centre would also not increase traffic, but could see an increase in the number of people using bicycles in the town, according to Mr Weaver.

While there is office space to let at the top of the building, some parts are already occupied by other businesses including Pike Smith and Kent estate agents and D&G Travel.

If the application is given the green light, the new fitness space will be just yards away from another fitness studio, Zacs, which is owned by Olympic Champion, Zac Purchase MBE.

The application was received by Wycombe District Council on February 10 and they have until April 7 to make a decision.
